          Gustave Flaubert (FLOH-bair, floh-BAIR;[1][2]French:[ɡystavflobɛʁ]; 12 December – 8 May ) was a French novelist.

          Flaubert was born in Rouen, in the Seine-Maritime department of Upper Normandy, in northern France.

          He was the second
